Prepare for the movements that follow

A useful calisthenics warm-up introduces the positions and movement paths your session will use. Read the main work first. A routine with repeated hand support creates different preparation questions from a standing leg practice.

The app’s plan days already contain authored warm-up blocks. The short version keeps a selected set; the extended version adds movements in the intended order. That gives you a concrete comparison instead of a generic list copied into every session.

The first-day comparison

The men’s Beginner short day one opens with Overhead Claps and Standing Torso Twist. Extended adds Wrist Warm-Up and Standing Hip Rotation before the main work. All four are real demonstrations in the app library.

Those additions give you more preparation movements to practice. Use them to learn the relevant movement and decide whether you need more preparation or a different exercise.

Use the first pass to learn range and rhythm

Begin with a comfortable range and an unhurried return. For arm movements, begin by learning the full path with a comfortable range. For a torso or hip movement, notice whether the intended part moves while the rest of your stance stays controlled.

If a position feels unfamiliar, preview it outside the timed sequence. You can pause to study the demonstration and resume when the setup is clear. Take enough preparation time to identify and establish the next position.

Separate warming up from changing the main exercise

Choose the plank support itself by what you can manage after preparation. You may still need a different support or a different session. Choose squat and lunge ranges from the control you have in those movements.

Choose the main movement and any adaptation deliberately. A standing squat in place of Squat to Knees changes the transition demand; that can be a more relevant adjustment than simply adding more preparatory minutes. Write down the version you intend to practice.

Account for spoken preparation

The app can extend rests to fit spoken Guidance. That means the time before a movement may differ from a simple fixed-rest calculation. With Guidance off, preview unfamiliar instructions before you begin the countdown.

The rest guide explains the actual controls. For the complete session around this warm-up, use the day-one walkthrough. Finish with the cool-down comparison if you want to understand the other end of the authored day.

Keep preparation specific on later days

Read the preparation block of the actual day you plan to practice. Open the day you intend to follow and inspect its own order. Keeping preparation connected to the next task makes the session clearer without turning the warm-up into a second unrelated workout.
